Up the apples and pears….. strawberries too

Do you remember that I made these?IMG_0282

It seems that they were well received. I have since made a proper set for home and backed them with felt as per Alice's suggestion. They are much more professional and finished. I recommend it. I figured that it was a mere hop and a skip to a pear from the pattern so here is my final go.

 IMG_0337

I then turned it tuther way up and thought it looked strawberry ish which was handy because a lady on Ravelry, commenting on Alice's apple suggested it and I thought it was a fab idea so had to have a go. I have published them on scribd  and they can be found here IMG_0336

We are on half term here so I may be distracted from blogworld as I need to keep a teen away from media.

Wish me luck.

1st birthday for Lally Lou Lou.

Good day to you my lovely and remarkable bloggy friends. Today sees the anniversary of the day that I began my humble blog, wow what a journey and crikey what an amazing year it has been. You may notice that from starting the blog I didn’t do much after October until January. I didn’t really have much clue what I was doing and I am only just getting there now. The simple fact is that I wouldn’t be at this stage without you, weather you comment every week or just take a look. All of your effort has meaning to me and I am grateful, inspired by you and happier than I have been in ages.
So, what now? Well I could do a giveaway but that would mean only one winner and I have so many thank you’s to make. With that and Christmas in mind (I can mention it I am allowed, you all said so) I have created a few thingies that may be useful around the season.

They are covers for the yummy chocolates, ferrero rocher.

Please tell me that you get them in US/NZ/AUS. If not then you will doubtless come up with alternatives you clever lot.(just seen them on Neighbours!!)
What I propose is that I will feature a pattern a week on a Wednesday for the next few weeks.

This week I am starting with a Christmas pudding. Now I am reminded of a post I read last week by corn poppy girl about creativity and how we should and do, add aspects of our own personality to projects and that's how they all turn out so different. Alice also mentioned this this week with her own unique take. With this in mind I would love to see what you do with this project and so have prepared a place for sharing pictures of things which you will find here http://www.flickr.com/groups/crochet-ferrero/
I realise that you are so busy but it would tickle me pink to see what happens. I will also put the projects on Ravelry so people can join in.
Remember, there is no need to follow my instructions to the letter. Use them to make your own thing. For example the Pud will become a cupcake or a bauble.
Ok ok I need to shut up now and let you at it……

I would like to thank June Gilbank from Planet June for kindly consenting to allow me to use her holly leaf and berry instructions as part of this project. She too is married to a Yorkshire man so I feel a connection there.

Being a technoclot I have struggled to embed the pdf. If it doesn’t work let me know and I will e-mail you. Fingers crossed.

Booty

Here is the start of my collection of sea glass  IMG_0309And my rocks (don’t be fooled by them) IMG_0308 IMG_0304

And here is my latest project. Can you believe that I bought a pattern for this? I didn’t need to, it was a rectangle with 2 gaps in then drawn up at the top. A bit short for my pot but quite colourful, inspired by Lucy from attic 24IMG_0306IMG_0307

I’m off to make more apples. I’m thinking that maybe I can develop it into a square for a blankie or cushion. Thanks to Alice being so complementary about them I am meeting new friends, how lovely. I think that this is what I love the most about blogging. Not only are we so likeminded but everyone is so generous spirited, either recommending  each others projects and blogs, or sharing so many of their own ideas.

Happy Wednesday

Lou

Birthday weekend

Thank you all for the good wishes. I had a lovely time. We went to Whitby in the mist for some beach combing. I cant visit the beach that I don’t come home with pockets full of rocks and sea glass. I’ve been like that since I was a little girl. I used to bring stones for my Grampy to polish in his tumbler.IMG_0285 IMG_0286 IMG_0287

It does look grim but we had fish and chips and then came home via a farm shop and afternoon tea. Back to the grindstone now though. Have a good week.

Presents for all!!

IMG_0282

Now I am not a huge fan of doilies but I have made coasters for my home to save my furniture. When I saw a picture of apple coasters I knew I had to have some. Most patterns were just circular and I wanted apple shaped so I have made one up inspired by my frosty flakes pattern in that it uses stitches of various sizes to shape things. So I thought you guys might like it too. So everyone gets a present on Lou’s birthday!!! Enjoy.

For you Louise

You may remember that some time ago on a trip into York discovered a lady who had the idea to encourage as many people as possible to make scarves to be auctioned off to raise money for breast cancer care. Well my excellent and ultimately talented friend Louise volunteered to have a go with me. I have just returned home from a somewhat manic trip back to York to hand them over. This is their journey.

sorry I cant rotate it!!!!

Arrived Tuesday Lunch time.

Nicely wrapped and a pressie for me!!!

Had a little rest

 IMG_0267

Into the car Thursday morning, safety first.

 IMG_0269

This is Monk bar, imagine it years ago with severed heads on pikes. There are many of these around the walls.

IMG_0270 Here are the walls. I am showing you them because the original challenge was to make enough scarves to go around the walls.

IMG_0272

I doubt that they would actually lay them out on the walls but I wanted ours to have a photo shoot on them. The photo is pants but I had to do it quick to avoid being seen  and pronounced a nutter!!!

IMG_0841

Off into town (nearly there)

IMG_0274

This is a very famous street (not a commentary on my life)

IMG_0275

It is said that it is possible to shake hands across the street from the upstairs windows. It is also home of…….

 IMG_0278Ramshambles!!

IMG_0277

Here they are !!  Also pants photo but by now I was very aware of  how nerdy I was being. A lady came in and just handed over her scarves without a word. I however insisted in taking photos and generally making a spectacle. Hey who cares!!

 IMG_0276

They said that they have hundreds and here are a few. The shop owner loved them.

I am going to keep in touch with the organiser and see what happens.

So, Louise what do you think? Are you pleased? What a lovely challenge  and such fun.

My lovely neighbour has made me a birthday cake so I am going to have a bit now. Happy Thursday

Frosty flakes tah dah

IMG_0251 IMG_0245 IMG_0246

Well its finished, a bit misshapen but a steam block should sort it out. I love it too. Especially the edge that ate yarn.

Its a gorgeous day here. Probably the only one this week so I am off outside to play.

I have a B day coming this weekend and I have pressies for all of you so be sure and check back on Saturday.

Tootles
